Google+ was launched in 2011 as Google’s attempt to create a social media platform that would compete with heavyweights like Facebook and Twitter. With integration across various Google services, it had great potential. However, despite early excitement, Google+ faced challenges in terms of user engagement and failed to reach the critical mass of users to establish a vibrant community. Privacy concerns and the emergence of alternative platforms further catalyzed its decline. Consequently, Google+ was gradually phased out, ultimately shutting down for consumers in 2019. Though it couldn’t make the mark in the social media landscape, it remains a significant milestone in Google’s journey.
